Visible Planets: Morning: Mercury through the 21st, and Jupiter
Evening: Venus, Mars and Saturn
Hot town, summer in the city
Its Bluegrass in Telluride and that means summer. I can remember the first fledgling festivals, Fred Shellman and the old stage. I had a boutique on Colorado Avenue back then, called the Ritzy Gypsy, and my partner, Ginette Petrie, and I designed and hand-screened T-shirts in our garage to capitalize on the summers biggest event. It was just as wild and crazy then as it is today, just a lot smaller and a lot less people. The days were just as hot, the music just as awesome and the food just as tasty.
We have a very special place here in the San Juans, its magic and mystique will never die, no matter what goes on in the world outside. The oil gushing in the Gulf is daunting, but, then, so is the water gushing over Bridal Veil and Ingram Falls. I am always blown away by the stunning magnificence of the Telluride Valley and Box Canyon at Bluegrass.
The Mother Earth pours forth her summer season with a power and grace that erases memory, changes the channel and tunes us in to the very, upfront here and now of natures dazzling beauty and endless bounty. The verdant, swaying aspen, the crystalline blue skies and the rosy glow of sunset followed by turquoise twilight make these days days of blessing and peace. May you walk in the beauty and swim in the bounty. And dont forget to celebrate Summer Solstice the longest day of the year - on Monday, June 21st when the Sun crosses the zero point of Cancer and the sizzling season of summer officially begins. In the meantime, may Merlin and the Witches - high up in the Bear Creek couloirs - watch over you. Happy summer!
Aries (Mar. 20-Apr.19)
Summer Solstice awakens the Ram to a brave new world of radical change. You are suddenly on the brink of a major personal breakthrough, looking at a future with unlimited potential and possibility. Success depends upon the willingness you have to drop self-destructive behavior patterns and replace them with a practice of positive, life-building skills.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20)
Ruler Venus in dramatic Leo shimmers and shines love and light in to your heart and home this week. You may feel strong attractions to peaceful, harmonious surroundings and beautiful places. Commune with Mother Nature, tend the to flowers and nurture the garden. Summer Solstice delivers a season of change and awakening. Keep your eyes open.
Gemini (May 21-June 21)

Enjoy the beauty and bounty of nature as fragrant flowers, luscious fruits and voluptuous vegetables pop up in local groceries and Farmers Markets. Calm over-active minds with vigorous walks and daily exercise. Get out and enjoy the season of heat and hot.
Cancer (June 21-July 22)
Happy birthday month to children of the magical, mystical Moon! Summer marks the beginning of your solar year, when spirits rise and higher-self purpose peaks. Take a quick look at road traveled over the previous year and see how far youve come! Plenty of positive change has paved the way for good and greatness. Do your best and stay on the path.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22)
Voluptuous Venus in Leo surrounds you with a rosy glow and enough personal magnetism to attract whatever and whomever you desire. Just make sure youre ready and willing to play or perform when they show up at your door. Primp and prepare for a rather flamboyant week as creative chaos delivers drama and delight. Enjoy the joy of summer.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22)
Motivational Mars now in Virgo lights fires of desire and self-fueled action under ambitious and not-so-ambitious Virgins. Its as if the Universe has put high octane in your tank and the pedal to the metal. Keep your eyes open and your hands on the wheel as the road ahead comes fast. Breathe, slow down and pay attention to where youre going!
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct.22)

Add peace to your list of priorities and become willing.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20)
Venus in fellow fire-sign Leo fuels both romantic fantasies and visionary ideas this week and month. Honesty and sobriety are allies. Simply do the best you can and enjoy the heat.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19)
As the Sun enters Cancer and marks the longest day and shortest night of the year, you also mark a turning point in your solar year. Suddenly other people and important relationships take center stage. Examine your part in every play and refrain from blaming others for your own personal frustrations or apparent failures. Success can look like failure. Relax.
Aquarius (Jan. 19-Feb. 18)
Summer heralds the season of increasing activity physically and mentally. Remember to take good care of your body. Get plenty of rest and eat organic as much as possible. Exercise daily, drink lots of water and breathe plenty of clean, fresh air. You are transforming to a lifestyle that cannot live on empty. Open the door and be willing to change.
Pisces (Feb. 18-Mar. 20)
Summer Solstice initiates a zodiac month of love and lusty, organic pleasure for the Fish. Swim in the waters, dive to the depths of Mother Natures awesome beauty and bounty as you savor the sensations and sizzle of the season. Awakened and alive, here and now, you understand and appreciate the vibrant gift of life. Practice gratitude and embrace grace.

Visible Planets: Morning: Jupiter Evening: Venus, Mars and Saturn
Black or White Magic? It's Up to YOU!
The June 12th Gemini New Moon gives all of us a chance to re-frame the ways in which we perceive, process and define our world. Whether were talking personal, social, national, global or universal, its all about what we see and how we experience it. Take a room of people and expose them all to the same exact scene and situation, action and activity, and the descriptions of what happened will vary from one individual to another. Perception is colored by experience, education and exposure. A lot of what we see is what we have learned to see, what we have been told to see. Reality is relative to what we believe is real.
Gemini follows Taurus, where we learned about finite, physical reality. Taurus provides for, nurtures and sustains life. Gemini thinks and questions, talks and listens. It is here we gather information, explore ideas, communicate our thoughts and travel around the block to find out whats going on outside our door. Gemini is curious and clever, loves to laugh and play. Ruled by Mercury, this multi-faceted, multi-talented sign is forever changing, shape-shifting and morphing into whatever or whomever seems to be most appealing, popular or current at the time. Motion oriented, mobile and mutable, its difficult to capture or keep Gemini energy still for very long. It is inherently restless, coming and going like the wind.
As the Sun and Moon come together @ 21 Gemini this week, take some time to pay attention to your thoughts, your internal dialogue and the default position of your thinking patterns. Are you predominantly positive or negative? Do you make decisions based on fear or love? Do you feel restess, irritable and discontent? Are you upset by the current state of affairs in the world? If so, what can you do about it? Can you change toxic thoughts, once you've identified them, or do you seem stuck on repeating patterns that fuel frustration and anger? Are you willing to trust the universe and cultivate faith in basic goodness, or do you find yourself questioning the integrity of humanity? Whatever the answers, now is the time to recognize the power of your mind and the quantum energy of thoughts. The word is magic, whether it's written, spoken or in the invisible shape of a concept or an idea. Become a mental magician - and whether you make it black or white magic - the choice is up to you!
Aries (Mar. 21-Apr.19)
The June 12th Gemini New Moon encourages fresh perspectives and an open mind when it comes to looking at yourself, your situation and life in general. With Jupiter and Uranus conjunct in Aries, you are being asked to break out of ruts and radically change behavior patterns that no longer work for you. Be open, be willing and trust in basic goodness.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20)
You may feel overloaded or overwhelmed with all the things you can, should or have to do. Take a deep breath and relax in the moment. Make a list and proceed in a step-by-step, day-by-day manner. Getting angry, stressed or irritable is anti-productive and simply works against you. Look at the bigger picture and count the blessings amidst the chaos.
Gemini (May 21-June 21)
With ruler Mercury now moving through your sign, you may be feeling clever, uplifted, enlightened and bright. Humor is your ally and laughter is your friend. Share happiness and cultivate joy in your relationships. Mars in Virgo encourages both domestic and self-improvement - clean and tidy-up - inside and out. New Moon energy says, Start fresh!
Cancer (June 22-July 22)
Voluptuous Venus in your sign shimmers rays of love and beauty down upon you. Celestial music, guardian angels and romantic opportunities surround you. Be sweet and embracing to others, but remember to also be kind and gentle with you. A career change may feel upsetting, but its only the universe expanding in new, exciting directions. Cultivate faith.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22)
Forget about trying to figure out why others are the way they are and do the things they do. If youre upset by someone elses behavior, take a look at your own. We teach others how to treat us and the only way to affect someone elses patterns is to change our own. Walk away from anger, violence and abuse. Replace it with peace, harmony and love.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22)
Motivator Mars has recently moved in to Virgo and will remain there until Julys end. This awards you with several weeks of good physical health and stamina. You may feel a heightened intensity regarding personal agendas and desires. This is a highly charged period, when you can accomplish a great deal. Channel energy in positive, productive ways.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct.22)
A fresh New Moon shimmers light upon angelic realms and invites your spirit guides back in to your heart and home. Be awake and aware when it comes to otherworldly presence and stay tuned to the inspirational and divine. Venus in your solar 10th house of achievement favors artistic pastimes and endeavors. Surround yourself with art, peace and beauty.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
Big changes are in the air when it comes to personal health and self-improvement. You are finally ready and willing to do it different. Open your heart and head to new ways of eating, living and being. Work is also changing and expanding in exciting, unusual directions. Foreign lands beckon and possibilities glisten. Trust in truth and go for the good.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20)
This weeks lunation in air Gemini blows fresh life into both you and your relationships. Its time to start anew, break out of ruts and recognize your part in both the good and bad aspects of sharing and pairing. Understand the essential meaning of practice and embrace it. We learn by practice and patience. Focus on what youre doing and let go of the rest.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19)
Big changes at home and in your personal world shimmer and shine this week as Jupiter and Uranus play snap, crackle, pop in and all around you. Rather than question why, jump in and play. Change and expansion are the name of the game and now is the time for looking beyond the proverbial horizon. The future lives in the now. Do your best today.
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
As your mind expands and perceptions change, open your heart and keep your eyes on the ball. And make sure you are treating others with respect and kindness. Our world is rapidly changing as humankind spins webs around the planet. Do the best you can to do no harm and cultivate kindness. The word is magic, pay attention to what you say and think.
Pisces (Feb. 19-Mar. 20)
A fresh lunar month begins on Jun. 12th as the Sun and Moon conjoin in Gemini. This translates as a time of new beginnings in your personal world and domestic environment. Weed the gardens and mow the lawn, enjoy lifes most simple pleasures. Cultivate attitudes of gratitude and practice the art of grace. Others love your sweet, happy smile. Be sweet.

Visible Planets: Morning: Mercury and Jupiter Evening: Venus, Mars and Saturn
Electric Light, Great Good Fortune & Me, Myself and I
Uranus is wild and revolutionary, electric and exciting. Its also sudden, disruptive, ingenious and life changing. Uranus rules the Aquarian New Age, the Internet, cyberspace, radio waves and microwaves. Its all that invisible information coming to us through satellites, cell towers and electric lines, as well as vibrations transmitted via crystals, auras, electro-magnetism and intuition. Its when and where we are suddenly tuned in to the cosmic or collective consciousness, experience awakenings, break out of ruts and break on through to new, uncharted territories and embark upon paths to freedom.
Jupiter is the planet of grand ideas and generous spirit. It is when and where we are optimistic, enthusiastic and largesse. Its all about exploration and discovery, generosity, philanthropy and giving. Its the over-the-top, beyond-the-limit planet of good luck, good will and great-good fortune that magnifies, amplifies and expands whatever it touches. ***For and extra-special astrological treat, click on this link: www.mooncircles.com and read what witty, wise and wonder-filled woman Dana Gerhardt has to say about Jupiter/Uranus.
Aries (Mar. 21-Apr.19)
Revolutionary Uranus in Aries cracks open the cosmic door on a seven-year period of radical personal awakening and change. Pay attention to whats happening to you right now. These are the seeds of harvest in years to come. Accept total responsibility for your current situation and relationships. Its about self-empowerment and life improvement. Yes, you can!
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20)
Dont be surprised if you find yourself in a sanctuary or an unusual, spiritual environment. Your soul is yearning for a deeper, cosmic experience and understanding of life. Take note of the people, messages and events that come your way. This is a fabulous time to make peace with the past, practice forgiveness and heal old wounds. Do your best.
Gemini (May 21-June 21)
Push and pull, breakthroughs and awakenings, restrictions and sorrow dance and dive in a self-motivated week of action and attraction. Cut the cake and light the candles on another revolution around the sun. World craziness is waxing along with your desire to make sense of it, but forget it. Focus instead on good friends, good food and doing the next right thing.
Cancer (June 22-July 22)
You might as well accept the fact that your career and professional life is lining up for major change. Issues of authority and responsibility loom large upon the proverbial horizon. Are you willing to go it alone and be your own boss or does the lure of corporate benefits and company security outweigh the desire for freedom and independence? Think big.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22)
You may feel the desire to escape or travel abroad as jovial Jupiter and wildcat Uranus team up in your solar 9th house of expanded possibilities and glittering horizons. Recognize the power of inspiration and channel passion in positive, productive ways rather than surrender to anger, rage or self-pity. You are the queen or king of your kingdom, be a good one.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22)
If youre feeling frustrated, confused, upset, restricted, crazy, powerless or insecure, dont feel like the Lone Ranger. Humanity is spinning wildly out of control and the planets are colliding not really but the energies here on planet Earth are definitely intense. Rather than fall into deep depression, focus on gratitude. Count your blessings and see the light.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct.22)
You may find yourself scratching your head and feeling a bit daunted by the power and passion of your relationships. Is everyone crazy, or is it just the people with whom you partner? Breakups and breakthroughs come easily this week. The function is to get you and others out of ruts and in to positive, productive action. Be creative and cultivate joy.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
Wake up, get up and rise to the occasion. Light rules and the days are getting longer. Warmer temperatures encourage outside activities and late night action. Focus on being the best you can be, whatever you do and wherever you are. The universe is calling for truth, awareness and enlightened personal change. The time is now, heed the call and do it right.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20)
You may feel uplifted or inspired as ruler Jupiter joins forces with electric Uranus in your solar 5th house of the heart. Creative juices are flowing; you may fall madly in love or spontaneously in lust. Whatever the manifestation, know the spark that flames the fire is spiritual, rather than physical or sexual. Open to the power and passion of spirit.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19)
An unexpected change at home or within your family may suddenly open a variety of multi-faceted doors and opportunities for you and those closest to you. Or it may be an overwhelming change of heart that takes place entirely within. You are being cosmically encouraged to love and forgive yourself unconditionally, feel and heal. Be honest, kind and gentle.
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
The planetary partnership of your ruling planet, radical Uranus, with jovial Jupiter continues to awaken, encourage and expand your personal world with sudden change and uncharted territory. Live in the present but keep your eyes on the horizon. Travel is an option and one well worth exploring. Take care of business and responsibilities first, then go for it.
Pisces (Feb. 19-Mar. 20)
Theres plenty of activity and responsibility to keep you busy these days even if its self-imposed and self-directed - where does all the time go? Gemini delivers the last month of spring and a time for the Fish to swim downstream. Go with the flow and enjoy each and every moment of your precious life. Plant your garden, count your blessings and live in the now.
Ive run in to several people lately whove asked me if I know whats going on. Is this stuff astrological? and Whats happening with the planets? are two questions that I've heard recently. As usual, astrologers always have explanations for whats going on. Real or unreal, virtual or actual, relevant or irrelevant, astrology contains an inherent alchemy that correlates naturally occurring celestial phenomena with events and experiences taking place right here, right now. As above, so below the ancient esoteric dictum of Hermes Trismegistus, father of medicine and magic, author of antiquitys fabled Emerald Tablet says it all.
Our solar system and Milky Way Galaxy are small compared to the billions of whirling star systems in our Universe. We are relatively insignificant in the larger scheme of things. And, yet, life here on Earth is all we know, all we have and all that really matters while were on it. Unless, of course, extra-terrestrials show up when our home planet lines up with the Galactic Center on Winter Solstice 2012. Then, as per the brilliant astrophysicist, Stephen Hawking, it might not work out so well for us - sort of like the Native American Indians and the arrival of Christopher Columbus in 1492.
The Sun enters the mutable air sign Gemini on May 20th at 9:34 pm MDT and initiates a zodiac month of increasing mobility, curiosity and communication. The traditional scholastic year is coming to a close; the thrill of summer looms upon our proverbial horizons and a sense of freedom and excitement is in the air. We think of trips and travel, places wed like to go, things wed like to see and people we want to visit.
The Gemini Twins arrive on the tail end of Taurus the Bull. Springtime is in full force. Days are increasing in length and the extended hours of sunlight have warmed the earths soil and atmosphere. The primal seeds of Aries have taken root, rains nurture new life, grass grows and flowers blossom. Baby lambs and calves graze in soft, green meadows as melting snows fill ponds and rush down canyon creeks to the rock n roll of runoff. Suddenly, the world is in motion. We are moving from one season in to another and, as we do, we see and experience the flux and flow of change.
Taurus is the first earth sign of the tropical zodiac and the second zodiac month of the natural year. Its energy manifests in the physical plane via things that we can touch and feel, smell and taste, see and hear. The nurturing rain and warming sun sustain and nourish life; seeds take root, trees bud and flowers blossom. The inherent fertility of the Mother Earth pours forth; we feel comfort and contentment in the greening grass, soft soil and recurring cycles of life. Ruled by Venus, planet of attraction, love and beauty, Taurus attracts and receives, holds and secures.
Its green, green, green down here in the West End. Quickly melting snows have left us with thick carpets of emerald grass, budding trees and delicate wildflowers. The bright reds of Indian paintbrush are popping out amongst the scrubby sage and desert cactus. Bluebirds flutter and meadowlarks sing, a pair of young bald eagles dip and dive, hunting for prairie dogs, and a lone coyote trots through pinon, looking for rabbits. Mornings are still, the air is cool and the wind at rest. By afternoon, the earth has warmed and breezes start to blow. Clouds morph and shadows shimmer, calves frolic and lambs romp. We find ourselves smack, dab, in the middle of spring.
In esoteric circles, these points are referred to as the Four Gates of Avataric Descent and represent particular types of cosmic energetic release. At these times the energies or realizations gathered at the equinoxes and solstices are released and made effective. The Bull [Taurus] and the Lion [Leo] express individuating power power rooted in the planet via concrete selfhood - while the Eagle [Scorpio] and the Angel [Aquarius] express collectivating power power that expands the individual toward the collective and universal.
The Taurus/Scorpio Full Moon took place on April 28th @ 4:20 am MDT, bringing to fruition the lunar cycle which began in mid-April with a late degree Aries New Moon. For many, this lunation was intense. I heard rumblings, mumblings and grumblings of irritability and dissatisfaction from personal, private and professional sectors. The world seemed ill-at-ease, restless and discontent, pulling, pushing, yelling and rebelling.
Whenever these two planets are in contact by conjunction, square or opposition, the world literally falls apart and comes together over and over, again and again, until the collective paradigm shape-shifts and we awaken to an evolutionary new dawn.
The Taurus zodiac month began here in the San Juans with gentle rain, rumbling thunder and flashing lightening, but this morning I awoke to a world of white. Overnight, the rain had turned to snow. It wasnt long before bright green popped out beneath Mother Natures soft, nurturing blanket - the next few days will paint the pastures in shades of brilliant emerald and shimmering jade. Theres nothing like the snows of spring, followed by dazzling sun and blossoming life.
All along the way, I had two sisters and two brothers one older and one younger and we were close in age, all five of us born within nine years of each other. Pisces, Taurus, Libra, Aquarius and Aries a variety of signs and symbols, elements and modalities packed into a modest home on south Forest street in Denver, overlooking the twinkling lights and vast expanse of the Rocky Mountain horizon. That meant plenty of diversity and no-lack-of-action inside or outside hide n seek, ditch em, football, baseball, dress-up, dolls, cards, plays, horses and haunted houses, lots of friends you name it, we did it.
My one-year older than me brother, Jeff the Taurus - taught me how to run fast, throw, catch and swing, use a mit, and ride a bike. He was definitely the reason I won blue ribbons on field day and could hit home runs at bat. I was a cheerleader for his Young America Little League football team the Bombers - and years later dated the quarterback he played with in high school. In college we both went to CU, played tennis and worked at the same Mexican restaurant while we studied and struggled through school. I had my path and he had his, but, just like kids, we continued to bounce off and learn from each other. With all my Libra fantasy and mystical realities, my girlie pinks, proms and promises, my Taurus brother kept me grounded in the here-and-now, the earthy reality of balancing financial equations, being patient, sticking to a plan and working hard to reach a goal.
Both of us modeled - he made good money at it, I did not. He had the patience to stick with it and persevere while he held down another job and finished college. I ran off to Telluride, opened a boutique and told fortunes in the downtown loft of the Ritzy Gypsy. He popped up on billboards, magazines and newspapers while I fell in love with the metaphysical magic of the San Juans and a strong, handsome young carpenter from California. We have both followed our hearts, lived our dreams and listened to our own inner truth. We share the same childhood, same brother, sisters, parents and grandparents. We have traveled different roads and experienced different experiences, but we are bound and connected by love, blood and laughter, sharing the same journey of life and heading toward the same ultimate destination. On April 23rd, my brother Jeff celebrates another revolution around the Sun. Thank you for teaching me the Taurus values of patience, practice and practicality, focus, effort, hard work, tenacity, loyalty and grace. May we share the beauty and bounty of our earth walk now and forever, in this life and all the rest. Happy birthday, Brother!
The distance and difference between the late degree Pisces New Moon of March 15, 2010 and the late degree Aries New Moon on April 14, 2010 is vast. In late Pisces, we are still vulnerable and trusting, emotionally sensitive and spiritually inclined. We are very near the culminating point of gestation, putting the finishing touches on our amniotic experience and preparing to emerge in the outside world of new, uncharted territory.By the time we reach the other side of Aries the April 14th New Moon - we have survived the primal thrust of birth, left the womb-like comfort of illusionary reality and awakened to the power and push of self-propelled action and self-determined movement. Its all about self-care and self-attention, self-motivation and self-concern. After all, if we dont take care of ourselves, who will?
Collectively, we are breaking new ground. Its a New Era, a New Earth, a New World, a New Age. The best-selling book by The New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman, The World Is Flat: A Brief History of the 21st Century, says it all: globalization. And whether we like it or not individually, its happening in every nook and cranny of our planet. Politically, economically and socially on physical, psychological and spiritual levels the individual psyche morphs as the collective psyche transforms. We are no longer alone and isolated. We are being called upon to fight for country, home and family, party, principles and beliefs. Suddenly, everything is inter-connected and co-related. And, yet, here we are: the individual, the human - ME.
This weeks Aries New Moon gives us all a push toward this great new reality, this Brave New World. It calls for courage, strength and a certain kind of confidence that supports individual effort and sustains personal identity amidst the rapidly changing global platform of international economic and social connectedness. Look for that shimmering, shining path of your own personal truth and follow it through the magic, madness and mayhem of the forest. Good luck and may the courage of Mars, the will of God and a heart of gold be with you.
***Alacazem and Luna Nueva are the same this week, due to cosmic synchronicity and celestial timing. Unusual...
Aries (Mar. 21-Apr.19)
The late degree Aries New Moon awards you with the opportunity to start your own personal emotional year of self-nurturing and self-care. A powerful new awakening is in the works. Be willing to accept total responsibility for your self and your choices. Liberation is all about honesty, so be true to you. Rest and relax as you cultivate kindness.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20)
Mercury goes retrograde in mid-Taurus on Apr. 17th and remains so until May 12th. This translates as a time to slow down, review your life and consider alternatives. Its not that anythings wrong or in disarray, its just that we all need prolonged periods of rest and relaxation. Clean up messes, finish projects already started and, in general, take it easy.
Gemini (May 21-June 21)
The winds of spring blow strong and hard as New Moon energy encourages transformation. The message is about change as a conscious choice rather than a consequence of unconscious behavior. Victim mentalities are pass and serve no positive purpose. Utilize the next few weeks to get very clear about what you want. Take your time, dont rush.
Cancer (June 22-July 22)
The initiation of another lunar month awards you with the gift of personal authority. Be your own boss and refrain from giving away your power. Others may tell you what to do or attempt to control or influence your actions and decisions. Pay attention to the options and information presented, but maintain healthy boundaries and follow your intuition.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22)
The cosmic shift from fire to earth portends a time of spiritual awakening for the Lion. With passionate Mars still marching through Leo, powerful surges of self-will and desire may encounter both challenge and resistance. With Mercury retrograde in bullish Taurus, along with several other planets, cultivate patience and wait your turn. The time will come.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22)
Saturn retrograde in your sign blows a stirring breeze through the cracks in your armor and cools the jets of motors youve been running too hot. Have you forgotten the hard-learned lessons and consequences of behaviors you no longer find rewarding? This is just a little reminder to keep you happy, healthy and free. Take the high road and stay on the path.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct.22)
Its time to really start fresh in your relationships beginning with yourself! Take time to rest, relax and regenerate. Clarify intentions and delineate goals over the next few weeks. Clean house and take care of your side of the street instead of criticizing and critiquing others. Treat people like you want to be treated and give what you want to receive.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
Planetary emphasis in Taurus including Mercury retrograde - in your opposite sign indicates several weeks of action and reaction regarding primary relationships and significant others. Do your best to keep your cool and take it one situation and circumstance at a time. This period favors reflection, review and reconsideration. Be calm and take it slow.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20)
Fun and games transform to work and service as Aries gives way to Taurus and the fiery excitement of spring stabilizes in daily routines and practical actions. Calm down and do what needs to be done. Focus on whats right in front of you and simply do the next right thing. Great reward comes to those who clean, organize and exercise. Enjoy nature.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19)
Feeling feelings and understanding the connection between thoughts and emotions is a theme this week and lunar month. Look within, count your blessings and listen to voices of the heart. Creative desires are waxing, explore artistic expression and seek out people and places that inspire creation. Take time out to enjoy life and surround yourself with beauty.
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
Home life and your immediate, domestic environment take top priority this week and upcoming zodiac month. Clean and organize your living and work space. Discard, sell or give away what you no longer need or use. Review your life and where youve been via what youve collected. Let go of and release the past as you prepare for a sparkling future in the present.
Pisces (Feb. 19-Mar. 20)
The initiation of another lunar month bestows you with the gift of inner light. This is a very powerful and insightful lunation for the Fish. Listen to inner wisdom as you exchange information and ideas with others. Pay attention to internal dialogues, what you say and how you feel when you say it. The word is magic; share the magic and transform the world.

April 8 to 15, 2010 Visible Planets: Morning: Jupiter Evening: Mercury, Venus, Mars and Saturn
The last week of this rather explosive lunar cycle delivers both a waning Moon and a waning appetite for other peoples drama and trauma. We are ready to just take care of me and my stuff and put everything else in the backseat as we roll along the journey called Life.
Aries is all about me first and attention me. Its where we feel the surge of individuality and self-will, the imperative for survival and the desire to fulfill our primal needs. Aries represents the first-born and the newborn. Its childhood innocence, navet and the Buddhist beginners mind. It is also when and where we rush ahead, initiate and pursue our prey. Primitive and primary, Aries returns us to the rush of spring; baby lambs and newborn calves, fragile foals and fluttering bluebirds, melting snow and sprouts of green everywhere!
Theres a rumbling, tumbling kind-of-thing going on inside as days grow longer and spirits rise. We are instinctively tuned in to solar rays, their angle and intensity affects our body, soul and psyche. Spring has sprung and its time to refurbish, refresh and recharge those internal batteries with the push and power of natural forces. Take a good, long look around you. April 1 to 8, 2010
Visible Planets: Morning: Jupiter Evening: Mercury, Venus, Mars and Saturn
The last two weeks from the late degree Pisces New Moon on Mar. 15th to the Aries/Libra Full Moon of Mar. 29th, we have been rocked with scandalous news, accusations and testimonies from a variety of sources on a variety of subjects all of them having to do with either sex, violence, abuse or good-old-fashioned outrage. We have seen iconic figures and institutions topple from pedestals and ivory towers tumble to ground zero, where they are fighting to survive. Special interest groups spout vehemence and angry politicians rally the disgruntled.
Jesse James, Tiger Woods, the Vatican, Christian militia, Russian [female!] terrorists, angry Tea-baggers, and shouts of Hell-no-you-cant! are just a few examples of the collective angst. We have burst the dreamy, idealistic Pisces bubble and shot in to the rough-and-ready spring of Aries and attention me. Its basically every man and woman for himself/herself. The elements reduce the agenda to instinct and intuition, survival and me-first action.
As I mentioned last week in this column, Aries/Libra Moons provide us with a reflecting pool in which to view the mirror of our relationships. Often we are shocked or stunned by what we see, illuminated or enlightened by our own or others actions, words and deeds. The reflections of self vs. other shine light into our hearts and souls, encourage us to consider another point of view, weigh information and balance ourselves within the context of what we discover.
Over the next two weeks of this waning lunar cycle, take notice of how the dramatic developments that took place in those first two weeks evolve. The exposes and exposure of people and society reach its zenith at the Full Moon; the following weeks deal with process, acceptance and choice. By the time the Aries New Moon of April 14th rolls around, well all be ready to start it all over again. Check it out. And, in the meantime, stay posted.
Aries (Mar. 21-Apr.19)
As the Sun transits Aries, personal planets Mercury and Venus move on in to Taurus. This portends several weeks of more practical thinking and doing, when money and love calm down and stabilize. Take advantage of the slower pace, commit to a set of values and go forward one step and one day at a time. Patience and perseverance further.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20)
Ruler Venus and messenger Mercury move into Taurus this week, stimulating a variety of thoughts and ideas regarding your personal world and relationships. Take your time when it comes to believing what you think; Mercury is a trickster. Instead, enjoy the multi-dimensional qualities of your mind and use it in creative, artistic ways. Have fun!
Gemini (May 21-June 21)
Easter weekend delivers subtle, but major, changes to the collective whole. The primal thrust of Aries softens as the Moon wanes and planets move from fire in to earth. Calm the battle of wills with patience and tact, refrain from impulsive comments and notice how transformation happens via practice. Turn it over, but maintain focus and take action.
Cancer (June 22-July 22)
The waning lunar cycle and a few harmonious earth-trines calm the waters for Moonchildren this week. Breathe deep and know that you are blessed. Friends support and encourage visionary, idealistic goals and help you back them up with time, ideas and input. This is a great week for strengthening relationships and cultivating camaraderie.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22)
Mars slowly marches forward in your sign, retracing steps already traveled. Since you are covering familiar territory, why not take advantage of the previously experienced terrain? The cosmic challenge is to remain calm, patient, practical and persevering, in spite of raging hormones or wild rides. Notice what you didnt notice before and, this time, do it right.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22)
A powerful earth-sign trine involving Venus and Pluto supports the manifestation of your most idealistic dreams and cherished hopes. However, you must be practical, realistic and self-disciplined for it all to happen. The step-by-step process of success comes with time, patience and effort. Dont give up, continue on the path and trust in right action.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct.22)
Encounters and information regarding other people, places and things has recently stirred the pot, stimulated thought and given birth to new possibilities. Now its time to relax a bit and consider options and opportunities. Focus on where you are right now and how you can make it better. Initiate a step-by-step process for the future, living in the now.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
Mars direct in your solar 10th house of achievement helps fuel fires of desire when it comes to goal achievement. Keep up the good work but dont overdo it. Physical health is important now. Stay active, take walks, drink plenty of water and eat fresh fruits and vegetables. And dont forget to rest! Sleep is the new sex, and you need it to get it!
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20)
Fire-sign power uplifts and elevates you physically, spiritually and psychologically just dont get too high! What goes up must come down. Enjoy the vistas, but be on the lookout for safe, soft landings. And whether youre up in the air or here on earth, focus on whats right in front of you. You wont move forward by looking in the rearview mirror.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19)
Two earth-sign trines to Pluto in your sign from Venus and Mercury now in Taurus provide you with the love and acumen you need to see clearly and act calmly. These are truly transformational times for Capricorns, filled with unlimited possibility and potential. Understanding the correct use of will and power is essential to success. Consider the concept.
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
Love is found close to home and great pleasure comes via fixing up or enhancing your living space and environment. Check out the beauty and bounty of nature as you walk, breathe and live. Communicate with siblings, take short trips and explore your neighborhood. Your ability to carve out the life you want is phenomenal. Identify, pursue and manifest.
Pisces (Feb. 19-Mar. 20)
Baby steps are big steps, now you see just how gigantic they can be. Changing patterns and practicing new skills brings great reward. Get serious about routines, schedules and daily habits. Act with kindness and let others know you appreciate their time, effort and attention. Think good thoughts and say good things its magic. Become a magician and transform your world.

March 25 to April 1, 2010
Visible Planets: Morning: Saturn Evening: Venus and Mars
Tattoos, Guns & Ammo or Peace, Love & Harmony?
The last full Moon of March and the first full Moon of Spring deliver tailwinds of adjustment to our perspectives and environment, both personally and socially. The illuminating quality of full Moon lunations shine light on what we need to see and what we need to deal with before we can move forward. And sometimes we get stuck there; as the information exposed and situations experienced simply stop progress, require time and attention, deeper understanding and new awareness. We are often awakened to conditions that had been hidden from view intentionally or unintentionally - swept under the rug or simply in the process of becoming.
The March 15th New Moon in late Pisces was all about being One with soul and spirit, body and mind, individual and collective. It was about planting seeds of intention in the fertile amniotic waters of the cosmos. We were encouraged to go deeply within and find the divine spark that not only inspires but creates, connects us to the Great Mystery and reminds us that we are all made of the same cosmic stuff - one and the same, alpha and omega, eternal and forever.
This week, on March 29th @ 8:27 pm MDT, the water-sign Pisces lunar cycle comes to fruition in the air and fire signs of Libra and Aries, out-of-harmony elements to the zodiacs sensitive, compassionate, steamy-dreamy 12th sign. From the ethereal womb of Pisces, bursts forth the primitive Aries warrior, with its primal instincts for survival and needs for immediate gratification. This is where ego, sex drive and self-will run riot, the desire for freedom and independence is strong. Bravado and courage fuel the Aries fire battles, wars, tattoos, guns and ammo are ruled by Mars. And then, enter a lovely Libra Moon - ruled by Venus - shimmering the ideals of love, peace and harmony down upon the madness. In an attempt to balance the wild, unbridled nature of Aries, Libra encourages negotiation and settlement, compromise, consideration and cooperation. Look at both sides, detach emotionally, craft enlightened strategies and focus upon fair, equitable solutions.
And what do we see all over the Internet, on TV and in the tabloids? The sexcapades of Jesse James [who happens to be an Aries] and Tiger Woods [a self-indulgent, egoic Leo] - with their hookers and strippers - a Sarah Palin call to reload and take aim, an angry Hell, no you cant Republican Party, March Madness and the annual rites of Spring Break.
The idealistic, ethereal dreams and illusions of Piscean idolization have tumbled and are being replaced by new awareness and fresh territory. Its time to see the forest for the trees, identify our personal truth, balance ourselves within the context of our relationships, gather our courage and go forth. Its all about inner peace. Find it, hang on to it and carry it with you wherever you go. Good luck and may the lunar light of individual strength, common ground and enlightened justice be with you.
Aries (Mar. 21-Apr.19)
The Mar. 29th Aries/Libra Full Moon illuminates all matters of relationship for the Ram. Balance feedback from partners and friends with your own personal sense of self. Are you showing up for others or shining them on? Acting on impulse and instinctive desire or taking time to consider someone else? Equality, inner and outer peace are allies. Be cool, not cruel.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20)
Yin and yang, male and female, light and dark balance out this week as the Moon comes to fruition Mar. 29th. Aries/Libra asks us to combines assertion with cooperation and individuality with mutuality. Share ideas and negotiate settlements. Consider others needs while communicating your own. Act with courage and cultivate calm as you share and pair.
Gemini (May 21-June 21)
The mirror of relationship shimmers with images of romance, inspiration and new hope as lunar light illuminates heartfelt desires and creative imperatives. Feel your feelings and follow your instincts as you maintain balance and cultivate inner peace. Joint investments and financial partnerships may necessitate examination. Be cool and take your time.
Cancer (June 22-July 22)
The Aries/Libra Full Moon highlights whats often called the parental axis of your solar chart. This is where authority figures, childhood behavior patterns, needs for nurturing and fields of achievement dance and duel. Breathe deep and know all is as it should be. Success depends on your ability to accept reality and act responsibly. Cultivate grace.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22)
The Lion roars with new hope and invigorated enthusiasm as days lengthen and solar rays are more direct. The world beckons and adventure calls. Plan a trip or explore travel options as you see beyond the perceptual limitations of physical and/or financial restrictions. Its all about expanding your mind and opening your heart. Open wide.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22)
Master Teacher Saturn is preparing to make another quick visit through the late degrees of Virgo, reminding celestial Virgins to maintain pure hearts and clear intentions. The tests, trails and tribulations of the last few years have taught you well. Embrace the lessons with love and go forth. Today you are better and stronger than ever. Stay true to you.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct.22)
As the Moon grows full in Libra this week, take a good long look in the mirror. How are you showing up for yourself and others? Are you maintaining open, honest relationships, self-nurturing and relaxing? Balance is key to your happiness and health. You know when things are out-of-whack. Enjoy the moment and be here now. Shine your light and follow the sun.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
Motivation to manifest goals strengthens as Mars in luscious Leo encourages action and promotes personal desire. Take it easy, calm your jets and plan your agenda as lunar light shines upon personal work and responsibility. Make lists, organize projects and clean house. There are plenty tasks to take care of before you take off. Go forth, one step at a time.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20)
Friends and lovers, lovers and friends where to draw the line? Sagittarius is the classic energy of philanthropy, philosophy and generosity of spirit. Youd like to share your heart with the world, but others dont always agree with your techniques. The key here is rigorous honesty and right action. Be clear and keep it clean. Make love, not war.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19)
Powerful Pluto in your sign squares the lunar axis of this weeks Full Moon, putting you in the position of mediator, negotiator and/or facilitator. Gather your calmest courage and strongest heart as you proceed along the path of illumination. Release expectation and attachment to the outcome. Then turn it over and go with the flow.
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
Tune into your heart chakra as lunar light shines love into your solar plexus and spirit-body this week. Open your mind and explore all options regarding romance, finance and creative pursuit. Determine just whom you admire and what youre attracted to and then go about cultivating new relationships with whoever and whatever you find attractive. Enjoy fresh territory.
Pisces (Feb. 19-Mar. 20)
As Jupiter reaches the middle degrees of Pisces, gaze upon the multi-faceted myriad of possibilities surrounding you. The world glitters and glows with gems and jewels, the golden road of opportunity lies ahead. While choosing a direction may seem daunting, take comfort in knowing its not quite time to choose. Keep the door open and follow your heart.

March 18 to 25, 2010
Visible Planets: Morning: Saturn Evening: Venus and Mars
Vernal Equinox and the Creative Spark of Spring
On March 20th, at 11:32 a.m. MDT, the Sun enters the cardinal fire-sign of Aries and the emerging season of Spring begins. We experience a day of equal light and dark, a brief 24 hours of celestial balance and cosmic equilibrium. We are entering the season of increasing light, planting and growth. Its a time when we instinctively feel renewal and rebirth, intuit the awakening of our Mother Earth and are ready to explore, discover and go forth.
I always think of Michaelangelos painting The Creation of Adam this time of year. Mutable Pisces the numinous, invisible and divine gives way to primal Aries the creative spark of selfhood. The gestation period is over. The amniotic waters of Winter have broken. Man - and woman - is born anew in Spring.
Here on Wrights Mesa, the snow has melted. Sprigs of grass are transforming the landscape from burnished golds to shades of green. Bald eagles perch in naked cottonwoods, prairie dogs romp and bluebirds swoop. The wind today is coming in gusts, and the skies are restless. God is handing the baton to Man. It's time to take the ball and run.
Aries (Mar. 21-Apr.19)
Another revolution around the Sun and we come to the point of Vernal Equinox, the first day of spring and the beginning of your personal solar year. Expect to transform your perceptual realities and the way in which you process information and experience. Prune the bush and focus on career goals and achievement in general. Perseverance furthers.
Taurus (Apr. 20-May 20)
As spring begins, take time out for quiet contemplation and soulful meditation. Check in with spirit and explore the invisible realms of the mystical and miraculous. Let go of expectations and accept what is. Release fear and cultivate faith. Self-nurture via rest and relaxation, and dont forget to pray. Request divine assistance and do that inner work.
Gemini (May 21-June 21)
As Mars moves forward in Leo and the Sun moves into Aries, fire is in the air. Plenty of excitement fans the flames of intellectual curiosity and artistic creativity. Ideas and images abound, youre ready to interact, communicate, explore and experience. Maintain your own authority and expand career goals in a process of good faith and step-by-step progress.
Cancer (June 22-July 22)
As winter ends and spring begins, Moonchildren weigh options and examine choices. Feelings of stress or anxiety are calmed by taking action and doing the next right thing. Get busy with your lists, focus on progress and surround yourself with positive, productive influences. Stay consciously in the present and move one step and one day at a time.
Leo (July 23-Aug.22)
With Mars now moving direct in Leo, dust the shelves and make room for new projects and ideas. Remove clutter and discard refuse. Its time for spring-cleaning and everything that goes with it. Focus on progress rather than perfection and simply do your best. Relieve tension via exercise and exploration. Take a trip to a nearby sanctuary, museum or library. Enjoy!
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep.22)
Take a good look at finances and financial commitments. Are you in over your head or feeling desperate regarding money, income and paying the bills? Or is it about investing what you have? Refrain from impulse and cultivate gratitude. The key is in balancing those equations and coming up with practical, realistic solutions that work. Take your time.
Libra (Sep. 23-Oct.22)
With so many planets now in Aries, you may feel out of balance or over-taxed when it comes to others needs and desires. And then again, its nice to be wanted. Springtime heralds your annual solar debut into the outside world. Polish those nails and coiffure that hair. Its important that you feel good about the way you look. Smile, we like your style.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
Dynamic aspects portend a dynamic spring and solar year. Jump in and enjoy the ride! Mars now direct in Leo propels you forward regarding career and achievement. You may encounter power struggles there, however, so listen to what your heart says and simply do whats right. Truth is the golden key to success. Honesty and integrity are allies.
Sagittarius (Nov. 23-Dec. 20)
Springtime heralds the season of love, romance and creative pursuit for the Archer. Hearts soar as grasses green and bluebirds fly. Take it all in and know you have everything you need to be happy, healthy and wise. Look at the big picture but focus on whats right in front of you. Its time to prune the bush and water your garden. Accept responsibility for you.
Capricorn (Dec. 21-Jan. 19)
A cardinal T-square on Vernal Equinox delivers a solar year of great opportunity and growth. Challenges and choices in personal agendas and professional arenas abound. Are you ready and willing to step up or step down regarding career and responsibility? Answers to questions of authority and autonomy lead the way. Balance equations and take it slow.
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)
Air Aquarius fans the flames of Aries fire and springtime translates as a time of great illumination and conflagration for the Waterbearer. Keep your head and follow your heart. As you begin a two-year period of restructure regarding the way you think about and perceive the world, consider exploring it. Partners motivate and encourage. Get busy!
Pisces (Feb. 19-Mar. 20)
As the Sun moves from Pisces in to Aries and winter ends, shed the skin and shake off the dust, its time to go forth! Self-care, self-love and self-knowledge fuel the fires and provide sustenance for the jobs and responsibilities youre ready to acquire. Do what you love and love what you do. The proof is in the pudding - use a recipe you know tastes great.
