Mom & Grandma

My maternal grandmother, Alice Wood Carter, and her daughter, Carolyn Carter Hansen, my mother, introduced me to the magic of astrology and the fascinating world of metaphysics.

I grew up reading American Astrology and Dell Horoscope magazines, and by the age of 12 I had a good working knowledge of Sun-sign astrology. I  joined my Mother and Grandmother as a perpetual student of this ancient science and art, and will be forever grateful to them for this inter-dimensional, multi-faceted, ever-evolving gift.

Alacazem Productions LLC is dedicated to observing, appreciating, correlating and interpreting celestial phenomena and cosmic events via the practice and profession of astrology. 

Who We Are

Cynthia Hansen Zehm is the creator and author of the syndicated weekly column Alacazem: Astrology and Metaphysics. She was born in Denver, CO and grew up along the front range of the majestic Rocky Mountains. She attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver. In 1977 she moved to Telluride, CO, where she began doing readings in the upstairs loft of the Ritzy Gypsy boutique with her partner, Ginette Petrie. In 1988, she began writing the Alacazem astrology column for The Telluride Times and has been published weekly ever since.
